Five Circles Arts Festival: Circle Four
Public Art 1 (UK): Mural Commission – 1888 Project
Chinatown Arts Space worked in partnership with Shaftesbury PLC to
commission a contemporary mural for Horse and Dolphin Yard, Chinatown,
London. A national competition was run and we are delighted to announce
that Wing Kei Wong was chosen as the winner. Wong launched
her 1888 project, a photo collection appeal inviting submissions for
Chinatown-related photos to add
in making her photo collage.
Shaftesbury PLC and Chinatown Arts Space
have received an investment from Arts & Business to develop their creative partnership for the Mural Commission. The A & B
Investment Programme is funded by Arts Council England, the Department
for Culture, Media and Sport and the Scottish Executive.

Chinatown Arts Space mounted the Five Circles Arts Festival,
a series of five groundbreaking contemporary exchange events in rap
music, film music cross-arts, contemporary dance, and visual public
arts, which took place from Feb 2008. Five Circles draws
its inspiration from the Olympics logo with its five interlocking
circles, symbolising international co-operation and competition.
Collaborative, innovative and unique, Five Circles presented the
best in contemporary Chinese performance.
