This September, catch the outrageous rock band RUSTIC from China as they tour the UK with London-based band Scarlletta, in six cities across the country.
Rustic are three young musicians from Hebei who go by the names of Li Fan (drums), Ricky Sixx (bass) and, of course, lead singer and guitarist Lucifer. After winning the title “Best New Band in the World” at The Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB) Competition, the trio took another step in their impossible journey toward world domination when they released their debut album, City of Heartbreak ’n’ Horror, through Maybe Mars, an indie label in Beijing. And now they are set to promote their album on this UK tour.
During their win at GBOB a year ago, Lucifer jumped on stage to declare, “I was born on a farm. I moved to Beijing and chose rock ‘n’ roll because I don’t want to be a farm boy all my life.” When asked about their music and their band, these former farm-boys who are now rock-and-roll icons in Beijing do humbly say, “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.” To date, they have now become one of the leading figures of Generation Six – the latest group of bands propelling Beijing’s rock scene forward.

Some of the most interesting past show highlights in Beijing and London:
Their breakthrough performance at the GBOB World Finals in London Scala -- where at one point (Lucifer) broke off from his impressive guitar work to play clarinet while Sixx (bass player) took on both axe duties – playing lead and bass at the same time, one with his hands, the other with his teeth. Rustic won the victory against 19 other bands from all over the world, winning a band package worth $100,000.

“Particular highlights are: Lead singer Lucifer crowd surfing on a fairly thin crowd — I think the same group of twenty people managed to carry him to the back of the mosh!””

“(In one particular performance), Ricky (bass player) had broken his ankle, so the signature high kicks were out. Instead he was wheeled on stage by his sunglass wearing ‘doctor’ who spent the set wheeling him around while he played.”
