2010 Piccadilly Revisited

Piccadilly Revisited is a film, dance, drama and music performance inspired by the life and loves of Hollywood's first Chinese film star, Anna May Wong, and the classic British silent movie Piccadilly (1929) in which she played a starring role.

Classic film Piccadilly gets new contemporary score

Event details: Piccadilly Revisited Free open air film and music performance at the Thames Festival Saturday 12th September, 8.15pm – 10pm East Façade, Royal Festival Hall

The classic 1929 movie, Piccadilly, starring the iconic Anna Mae Wong, has been treated to a daring new score, combining cutting edge live electronic music with Chinese instrumentation and Western classical influences. The performance will include live sampling, looping and innovative techniques for playing Chinese instruments

The film will be shown, and the score performed live by composers Ruth Chan and Suki Mok, as part of the Thames Festival on Saturday 12th September.

2009 Piccadilly Revisited

An outdoor showing of the 1929 classic British movie Piccadilly, starring the iconic Chinese American actress Anna May Wong, in the dramatic setting of the Southbank centre.

As part of the Thames Festival, Chinatown Arts Space presents the film with a live performance of a new contemporary score, composed by Ruth Chan and Suki Mok.

The performance incorporates voice and drama highlighting aspects of the life and role of Anna May Wong, in a concept developed and performed by co-writers David Tse Ka-Shing and Alice Lee.

2007 Chinatown Arts Festival: The Circle

Chinatown Arts Space (CAS) is proud to present our second annual Chinatown Arts Festival, in partnership with the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House.

Featuring the best of British East Asian Dance, Drama and Music, this 3-day Festival celebrates the East Asian idea of “The Circle” uniting contemporary and traditional artforms, East and West, with Performances and Workshops from established and exciting new companies.

2006 Chinatown Arts in Linbury at Royal Opera House

On 1 February, Chinatown Arts Space in association with Westminster City Council is staging a magical event as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. The evening performance of various Chinatown Arts will be in the Linbury at the Royal Opera House. It will feature beautiful classic and folklore dances by the Gold Sail Dance Group from Beijing No 2 Middle School, the magnificent Joji Hirota Japanese Taiko Drummers and a production of The Nightingale presented by Yellow Earth Theatre.

2005 Lighting Up Chinatown

Westminster City Council in association with Chinatown Arts Space is launching its exciting project to light up Chinatown with public art. Westminster has teamed up with Chinatown Arts Space to put together a project called Lighting Up Chinatown.
